St Hugh’s School

This is a non-selective, co-ed school based in Oxfordshire and is headed by Mr Nott. Both flexi and weekly boarding is available, during the week only, with saturday school just for years 6 – 8. The school itself is housed in non other than David Niven’s birthplace – Niven House – with suitably beautiful grounds and exceptionally well maintained buildings.

The excellent sporting facilities include squash, basketball, tennis and a more recent introduction of lacrosse with an incredible number of children gaining sporting scholarships to their senior schools. Small numbers of children per class (around 13) allow for an intimate education.

Pupils go on to a host of top schools over the home counties, many of which are boarding. One stand-out activity is the traditional week long adventure trip to Whales for year 8, where Mr Nott releases the children’s CE results over fish and chips on the beach. The lack of advertising of this school is a testament to the honest word-of-mouth praise that it receives from current and past parents.
