Aysgarth Prep School

Aysgarth is co-educational at pre-prep and nursery level, and all-boys at prep school, making it the only all-boys prep left in the North. It’s keen on sport: the 2011 first XV was the third rugby team in five years to enjoy an unbeaten season. There has also been much success in football, cricket and shooting. Even with all the success that the boys have had with conventional sports, most students will say that the Aysgarth game of COW (cricket of the wall) – where the real challenge is to hit the ball into the Headmaster’s garden – is their favourite. Away from the sports field, the senior choir performed at Chatsworth last year, where they stayed as guests of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. Following their time at Aysgarth, many students move onto schools such as Eton, Harrow, Winchester and Radley among others.
